A drop in the temperature, falling of the leaves all seem very alarming to most people. Little do people know, think or feel like I do. To me the cooler weather is sign of celebration wherein my outfits get heavier, detailed and more diverse than ever. No wonder fashion enthusiasts globally consider Fall/Winter the most appropriate season to showcase the season’s best collections.
The ‘Style Guide’ below is from my selection of favourite Fall/Winter looks that I have created using my everyday hashtags on Instagram #WaichingsWall #OOTD . These are totally interesting looks that can help you create for an effortless look from day to-night.
- The Denim Trench
Denim is always a good idea. You can never go wrong with that. However at the recently held Vancouver Fashion Week I wore this unconventional Denim Trench that was uber chic and called for a lot of attention. I picked up the denim trench at the local fashion store, Oak And Fort by Gastown in Vancouver wherein you can find plenty of fashion faves. Styling was easy as the focus of the look was on the key denim trench, I styled the look with an all black Zanerobe Shirt and Denims from Topman ( Hudson’s Bay). The look was very comfortable and helped me get through a busy fashion packed week.
Brands: Zanerobe, Oak+Fort, Topman, Vitaly Design
2. Sporty Dapper Man
My style is pretty dynamic and there are some days I want to be dressed in a suit too. Hence at a recently held Fashion Gala hosted by Vancouver Fashion Week, I opted for a comfortable, stylish and mysterious outfit from Ted Baker. In this look I’ve created a Sporty Dapper Look wherein I wore a printed dress shirt, pattern bow-tie, suit and accessories from Ted Baker and I combined that with a super skinny trouser and my golden Adidas sneakers. Instead of having my shirt tucked in I let it out to continue a relaxed yet contemporary look.
Brands: Ted Baker, Zara Official, Tissot Official and Adidas Canada
3. Long Coats
The immensely popular long coats have been on the Milano, Paris, New York runways earlier at this year’s menswear Fall/Winter 2016 fashion week. It was not the first time we’ve seen long coats time and again fashion gives us a flashback to yesteryear and makes you realize on the existence of these wonderful creations. I know I have admired these coats way too much in the past and hence this look came along. Simple, yet classy is how I define this look. I’ve opted for a well knitted sweater from Bershka combined that with a fancy pair of trousers from Pull & Bear, complemented this look with my Beige Poncho inspired long coat from a local designer in Taiwan. It was easy to play the layer game here. My shoes are from Dr. Marten’s Official and I think I’m in love with them.
Well if you are thinking it’s way too much effort to create these looks, then you’re wrong. Either shuffle your wardrobe or look into your winter closet for all those fancy knits that you haven’t seen for over a year it’s time to unfurl your new winter look. I love wearing fancy brands but the brands do not define you, your style aesthetics is what makes you stand out. And if you think high-end brands make you stylish then you are totally wrong, because their sole purpose is to compliment your already existent style.
