Multi-brand luxury fashion concept ‘Etoile La Boutique’ hosted an intimate evening for the launch of THALE BLANC at Mall of the Emirates recently. The beautifully designed store by Jacques Garcia is home to some chic fashion wear for people who believe in celebrating fashion.
I had the privilege to meet Debroah Sawaf whose brainchild ‘Thale Blanc’ the luxury handbag brand screamed for attention that evening. We were all set to welcome her Fall/ Winter 2015 Collection in Dubai.
Deborah a very beautiful and kind designer, whose multi-faceted brands have walked the red carpets, dawned the leading fashion weeks to the runways. She has made a mark for herself not only by her charm but the assortment of intricate clutches, ready to wear totes, bags etc.; that have a niche market for them around the world. And particularly the Arab fashion world is constantly evolving hence this market has growing fashion demands.
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH DEBORAH SAWAF
THE ORIGIN OF THE BRAND – THALE BLANC
Upon interview Deborah Sawaf the designer behind ‘Thale Blanc’ the first thing I asked her was about the origin of the lovely brand. She mentioned that her daughter’s name was Talia and she came across ‘Thale Blanc‘ a town situated in between the borders of Germany and Switzerland. It was significant enough to choose Thale Blanc as the name for the brand. It added more to the impact of one’s love for the brand and thereby converting it into fine pieces of art that stood out.
DUBAI OR LOS ANGELES
When asked Deborah whether she called Dubai her home or LA. She obviously said yes to Los Angeles. Having spent some time in the Middle East she was well versed with the market and the anticipation of the Arab shoppers. Hence her knowledge in design and expertise in fabrics and embroidery led her to designing pieces such as the uniquely crafted ‘GISELE’ clutch which was hand crafted with pearls and shells.
SIGNATURE PIECES – GOLDEN ORCHID
Having attained much expertise in the fashion industry and working across brands that were still growing in the day such as Gianfranco Ferre and Roberto Cavalli to already well-established brands like Valentino & Versace. It was time for Deborah to showcase to the world what ‘Thale Blanc’ had to offer.
Having launched the line only half a decade ago the brand has grown considerably and I’m certainly impressed. Deborah mentioned to me that her clutches like the one above are the season’s hot picks and they are close to her heart. Orchids are very symbolically Thai and I know that even different parts of China love using Orchids for style or décor purposes. (That is only because I’m Chinese) however whatever the art form is. I think these are gorgeous.
Speak about handcrafted designs; intricate detailing you can see them all in these lovely Orchid clutches which are from the ‘Thale Blanc’ Fall 2015 Collection also known as ‘Golden Orchid Series’.
COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTS –
Further more Deborah took me through her ‘Day Bag’ collection, which was presented at the center of the ‘Etoile La Boutique’. The ‘Day Bag’ line from “Thale Blanc’ featured some alluring totes and mini totes that were designed using contemporary techniques and traditional craftsmanship. According to the designer these beauties are your luxurious best friends from day to night.
FLUTTER OF HOPE –
Fashion meets art, fashion meets style but what caught my attention was fashion gives back to charity. Yes! We are speaking of Deborah Sawaf’s charitable initiative to design her signature clutches the ‘Flutter of Hope’, which is an amazing looking clutch that I spotted. And when I did my research on the brand I figured how special the two seasons old clutches were. Kudos to you Deborah!
WAICHING’S WALL LOVES –
Deborah and I had something in common and we laughed about it too. Check out the cool pictured we snapped. She enjoys designing clutches which to her is a true form or art especially the ones she is designing for ‘Thale Blanc’ , for me I love man clutches sadly she didn’t have any for me to pick this season. But I pleaded to her to create some for men and she convinced me that she already has these in mind and we might see some man clutches with studs and glam rock details next season.
Moving on I personally think the Octagonal Pearl clutch is a showstopper. She is clad in nude ombre colour and covered in quilted design with laser-encrypted pearls adoring her.
I’m so looking forward to her next collection and I hope the man folks agree with me on this. We absolutely need some amazing clutches for men this Fall/Winter and for the season’s ahead.
