When I heard someone say ‘Fish Market‘ I literally imagined the wet fish market in Asia. Prove me wrong, the one I am referring to now is far more legendary and sumptuous than your senses can imagine. The ‘Fish Market’ restaurant located in Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek opened its doors to the UAE in 1989. Thus, it became the first authentic Fish Market restaurant in the UAE.
As the very name suggests, the restaurant is designed market-style, plenty of large aquariums with fresh seafood, helfpul staff and an air of fine dining within a relaxed environment. I was amazed to see the restaurant bustling with people. Do not get me wrong, I was indeed joyful to know that there are many others like me who enjoy their food. And I was glad to join the bandwagon.

The friendly staff welcomed us by sight, and took us to a pretty table with a splendid view of the Dubai Creek. From where I sat, I could view the entire restaurant flowing with fresh food, drinks and laughter in the air. Without further ado, the staff took us through the various seafood & vegetable stalls on offer. She carried her little bamboo basket very elegantly, I was perplexed when I’d seen the vast assortment of seafood on display.
My friend and I were informed earlier that the restaurant functions typically like the markets back in Thailand. So once the fishes, squids, lobsters were selected we straight headed to the method of preparation. Tough decisions, but I knew there is nothing more tastier than the popular Green & Red Thai Curries. So, my friend and I decided to go with the Halwa fish prepared in both sauces intentionally, to have a little bit of both. For our starters we were offered Tom Yum Soup, calamaris and the restaurants signature appetizer “Lemon & Butter Shrimps’ ( all in small portions). All of them were great, but I’d go with the ‘Lemon & Butter Shrimps’ next time again.

We had a couple of interesting mains, never tasted before but the popular Pineapple Thai Rice served in a pineapple with a twist of fresh pineapple slices and fish in the rice tasted like a true winner. We were trying to balance both the Green & Red Curries, amidst which the show stopper appeared. The ‘Lobster Thermidore’ was far more divine that we thought. Without any delay we started sampling it, baked in milk, butter, mushroom and delicious seasoning the Lobster Thermidore will definitely befriend you.
The Lobster Thermidore
The food at ‘Fish Market’ is fairly priced depending upon the weight and type of seafood you choose. I was glad to know that, I could choose small portions and have them prepare it in multiple styles. The chef did a brilliant job to customize the dishes for each guest considering their palette.
I was informed by the restaurant staff that ‘Fish Market’ is associated with the ‘Choose Wisely’ initiative. What a great way to give back to the environment, brands like these help guests avoid consuming endangered species of fishes even if they delight your tastebuds. I have never been a lover of Hamour but I was glad to see that no one in the restaurant was looking for it either.

That killer view, brilliant service and flavoursome food will absolutely bring me back shopping to the ‘Fish Market’. The restaurant is situated in the city center of Deira and overlooks the Dubai Creek. You wouldn’t feel indifferently considering the view of the sea and the oceanic ambience within the restaurant. I am planning to visit there on a Friday Brunch sometime and I hope to meet more foodies then.
